Hubless Wheels - What is it?
Every CB Design wheel has a hubless design. A hubless wheel means that the entire width of the wheel can be used to put rubber, silicone or urethane on the track... more traction means more speed and stability in the corners. It also means that it's easier to put wider wheels under the body of your cars, especially when a sidewinder setup is limiting your options on that front.
Since the set screw is located under the tire, some racers ask us if it's possible to glue and true tires on a hubless wheel. Of course, it's possible, we do it all the time. All you need to do, once the tire is glued to the wheel, is to use a toothpick or any other small pointy object to make a very small opening in the tire, through which the hex driver will go to reach the set screw.
We won many 24-hour races at the prestigious Michigan 24 with CB Design wheels and most of the winning car builders/tuners in proxy races are also using hubless wheels with glued/trues tires. You can't go wrong with hubless wheels.
