Profiling Super Tires

Want to improve the performance/handling of cars running Super Tires?  One tip is to "profile" (round) the inner and outer edges of the tires.  This will help prevent the "square" edge of the tires from "digging in" while cornering - the result is smoother, more consistent cornering performance.  There are several ways to achieve a uniform profile - we've seen racers use sandpaper, files, Dremels, sanding drums and razors to achieve good results; however, all methods require patience and practice to consistently achieve good results.  One common mistake is to try to "knock down the edge" too aggressively (quickly) - the result can be a ruined tire.  "Classic" (silicone) Super Tires are harder to profile because the silicone compound is much more resistant to sanding than "Yellow Dog" (urethane) Super Tires.  The basic procedure for profiling either compound is the same - just work slowly and with a little practice, you'll achieve consistent results every time.

To help our Customers learn how to profile Super Tires, we've put together a short video.  Note the video was made before Yellow Dog Super Tires were released - the technique shown will work equally well for Yellow Dogs.  Again, this is just one method but we've found it is the easiest method to achieve consistent results.
